Understanding is at the heart of what I do
How you feel from day-to-day, your mental state, the pattern of your behaviour, your actions and the decisions you take. All of these are connected to your past experiences going all the way back to childhood – and they determine the person you are today.
The type of therapy I use is known as psychodynamic psychotherapy or psychoanalysis. What it does is it provides you with a regular time to think and reflect – and talk – about the feelings you have about yourself and other people close to you.
My aim is to help you make connections between the past and the present. This can help you see how some of the things that you feel, do and say are not driven by your conscious thoughts and feelings, rather by unconscious feelings. Gain a better understanding of these connections and you’ll gain more control over them. Most patients require one or two weekly 1-to-1 sessions
I provide a comfortable, confidential and trust-based environment where we can talk openly. During these sessions, we talk about the things you feel are important, and trace their relevance and impact on your life. It’s a gradual process of dialogue, exploration, analysis, insight and recognition that’s been proven to work.
